In our sorrow…

Our search for Linnea has ended.

Wonderful volunteers. We are grieved to report that we have just received confirmation that our search for Linnea has ended in sorrow. She has gone to be with her Lord. Yet in our sorrow we do not despair, knowing we will see her again one day. Arrangements for a Celebration of Life service are being made and details will follow. More information will be released as her family deems appropriate.  In the meantime, please allow them privacy as they mourn, and please continue to hold them up in prayer.

“13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep…18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

    Dear Lomax Family,

No words can fully express the suffering endured following the loss of our loved ones. In light of this ordeal, remember that you are joined by countless friends, strangers, and relatives who are anxious for your welfare, and who share in your grief. Know that your search for Linnea has not ended in vain; your organizing such a massive-scale search effort demonstrates the extraordinary lengths you are willing to take for profound love of your daughter, sister. Though you may have lost one angel — who is doubtlessly now admonishing, smiling, watching over her mom, dad, brother, and sister from Heaven above — you have gained an entire family, community through your unfailing persistence, hope, and inspiration.

    Agape,

    Brian

Words will not comfort your family during this time of sorrow and grief; for there are no words to make it all better or change what you feel inside. May you rest in the knowledge that you are the best Mom, Dad & sister that Linnea ever needed. May you continue to allow God to carry you today and all the days forward. Many prayers as you walk this journey not of your choosing.

I have never met Linnea but I have a close friend who was a volunteer in her search. While never having met her, my friend spoke of her in a light that left no doubt of the wonderful person and soul she had. I feel sorrow in my heart for her, her family, friends and searchers. Blessings and comfort be with you in your healing.

I’ve been watching this because a coworker of mine knew Linnea. My prayers go out to you and your family. This is just cruel for you to be taken away from your family so young and I hope someday they’ll know why. I hope you rest in peace Linnea now that youve been returned.

I have been praying for all of the family and friends of Linnea over these past few weeks.

Thank you, Lord for helping the team to find your sweet daughter. Please offer comfort and healing to all who have searched and prayed for her. Restore broken hearts, and offer hope to those who feel overwhelmed. Let her death be not in vain, but allow us all to learn how to love and care for those in our lives who suffer from mental illness. Give us all compassion and wisdom, and let her name and her story turn into a beacon of hope for the future. Let it gain power and become something greater than death. May Linnea’s story and the lives that she touched eventually grow from sorrow into resolve to be healers in this world. Amen.

We mourn with you~ May the peace of our Lord Jesus hold you all in the palm of his right hand and comfort you with his Love of Salvation knowing that your precious child is with her Jesus who knows no pain, no tears and no hatred of this world we live in just for a little while longer. Come Lord Jesus Come.

Thank you for letting us join with you over the past couple months in praying for Linnea and your whole family. Our hearts mourn with you right now, and yet that God-paradox where joy under-girds it knowing she is safe with Jesus. We are incredibly thankful for the strength God has given you during this time and know that He is powerful to continue to use this to display His splendor on this earth. May you rest in His comfort and care as you grieve your precious Linnea. Prayers and hugs.

The nightmare that you’ve endured is every parents’ fear and our hearts and prayers will continue for your restoration to whatever wholeness the Lord has planned for you. Our daughter Autumn, who has attended your camp, will be praying for you as well. God’s most all-encompassing blessings to you.

I have never met you and do not live in your area but I have prayed and prayed for your Linnea and for all of the family. Please know that so many are continuing to uplift you in prayer asking our Father to sustain you. My heart is crying. We have a daughter who suffers emotionally and this could so easily be us. I wish I did know you all; I’ve been told by people who know you that you are an awesome family. One day in heaven I will meet you all and Linnea.

I lost my father in a similar fashion 22 years ago…he was washed up in the Sacramento River. My heart breaks for you, as I have a daughter who has also suffered a breakdown this summer. Linnea’s spirit was so strong that she attracted mighty crowds to search for her. She was an absolutely beautiful girl in body and spirit…I can tell. Her soul is alive … my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. She will always be remembered as the beautiful person she was. The Lord be with you.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I recently started volunteering with KlaasKIDS and Linnea was the first case I’ve worked on; although I was not able to go to California to help with the search I was working with a group of volunteers searching for Linnea on the internet. It broke my heart to learn on Friday that the sweet girl we were looking for just the night before was found deceased. I know my sorrow is nothing compared to what your family is going through but I pray that you can take some comfort knowing that Linnea has touched many lives of people that she never knew, including me. “May the Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” -Numbers 6:24-26

Linnea was one of our guides on a Canyon Hike in July 2010. One of our youth workers, Crystal Hauber, shared this with our youth group:

I will remember Linnea taking mental pictures of “God’s artwork” as she put it. When we were hiking she would stop every so often, make a camera click sound and take a mental picture of something she wanted to see again when she was i
n heaven. She said her theory of heaven was that it was just one big slide show of all the beautiful memories you had on earth. She was wise behind her years….

And I want to add: I’m sure those beautiful memories will include so many of the wonderful memories she had with her family.

God’s got plans for your precious Linnea. As much as you love her, so does He. He is glad to have her back in His kingdom. You can now start the mourning journey -one that I hope to one day start for my sister. I assume my sister has been back with God for nearly 32 years – she’s likely showing your Linnea the ropes. May He heal your pain and ease your sorrow over time. Much love sent your way from me to your family.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious daughter. You do not know me, and I did not know Linnea, but a friend of mine knew her and posted her story on her Facebook page. Because I live in New York State, I was not able to help with the searching. However, I did pray for all of you, as that is what I could do from afar. God bless Linnea and your family.
